After defeating World No.1 and defending champion Roger Federer in the semi-finals, Novak Djokovic defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final, becoming the first player representing Serbia to win a Grand Slam singles title and the youngest player in the open era to have reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slam events.

At the 2010 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, David Nalbandian won his first round match against Stefan Koubek 6-2, 7-6(2). In his next round match, he played 22nd seed Jurgen Melzer but lost 4-6, 1-6.  David Nalbandian then entered the 2010 Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, as a wildcard entrant. He beat Lukasz Kubot 6-3, 6-2 and no.30 seed Viktor Troicki 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 before falling to the No. 4 seed Rafael Nadal in three sets, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2.
